PEOPLE ARE ENGINES. COMMUNITIES ARE POWERHOUSES.

IMAGINE…

communities where every person is a driver of change, not just a passenger.

Picture a place where development isn’t something that happens to people but with them, and for them.

People are engines. Communities are powerhouses. Re-Power Development® helps people reignite agency, strengthen organizations and develop systems—while equipping leadership with approaches that earn trust—delivering people-led change that lasts. Because even the most powerful engines sometimes need to be reignited, rebuilt, or replaced.

Why Governments, Funders, and NGOs
Choose Re-Power Development®

Too often, people are disconnected from changes that were meant to improve their lives.
Good intentions fall short when projects face opposition, resources are wasted, or outcomes don’t last.

Re-Power Development® bridges that gap. It helps our partners secure ownership, reduce resistance, and ensure that investments build trust and deliver results that communities can sustain.

With Re-Power, you get:

Faster Implementation

Avoid costly delays by building agreement and ownership from the start.

Credible Investments

Investments deliver results when shaped by those closest to the challenge.

Sustained Growth

Locally rooted change continues long after projects end.

Collective Strength

Shared effort builds safety, connection, and resilience across people and systems.

The Three Pillars of Re-Power Development®

Even the strongest engines need attention. Re-Power Development® helps communities reignite, rebuild, and replace where needed—turning local energy into lasting progress.

  • Restoring self-determination and local leadership.

We believe every person carries intrinsic dignity and power. Yet years of exclusion or inequity can dull that spark. Re-Ignite helps people see themselves not as passive recipients but as co-leaders of change. Through participatory planning, civic leadership academies, and social and behavior change campaigns, we create pathways for people to move from being consulted to becoming co-creators who drive progress.

  • Strengthening organizations that communities rely on.

Grassroots and community-based organizations are the heartbeat of development, but too often they are stretched thin. We help them stand stronger by developing organizational and community systems, building capacity, and amplifying voice to ensure long-term resilience. Whether through capacity assessments, strategic communications, or organizational development, we work alongside leaders to make sure they have the tools and staying power to last.

  • Equipping leaders to build trust and deliver results.

Outdated methods can unintentionally create barriers between good intentions and real impact. Replace helps governments, funders, and NGOs adopt collaborative, equitable, and responsive ways of leading. Through facilitation, equity assessments, and leadership training, we provide practical approaches that strengthen participation, rebuild public trust, and make change sustainable.

The Re-Power Development® Framework:
Contextualize, Collaborate, Catalyze, Calibrate

Re-Power Development® isn’t a one-off intervention. It’s a clear, repeatable pathway that moves partners from intention to lasting impact.

  • Contextualize
We start with listening. By combining data with on-the-ground realities, we uncover the true context for change.

  • Collaborate
We use facilitation, consensus-building, and participatory design to unite governments, funders, NGOs, and community partners around actionable priorities—whether programs, policies, and strategies—that people can truly own.

  • Catalyze
We put ideas into action—from leadership training and technical assistance to communications and on-the-ground coordination, we equip teams and partners to deliver measurable results with confidence.

  • Calibrate
We track progress with monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems, share insights, and adapt in real time—so impact stays relevant, sustainable, and owned by the people and partners it serves.

Applying Re-Power Development® Across Sectors

Re-Power Development® is not sector-bound—it adapts to the issues that matter most. From local governments to global NGOs, the framework has been applied across fields where capacity building, community engagement, and systems strengthening are critical.

We bring Re-Power to challenges such as:

  • Youth Leadership (SDG 4) – Preparing the next generation to drive civic engagement.

  • Maternal & Child Health (SDG 3) – Addressing risk and resilience factors for healthier families.

  • Gender Equity (SDG 5) – Re-powering historically excluded voices to advance safety, opportunity, and leadership.

  • Economic Justice (SDG 8 & 10) – Building systems that expand local opportunity.

  • Public Trust & Civic Engagement (SDG 16) – Building participation, transparency, and credibility in governance.

Case Studies: Re-Power Development® in Action

We’ve helped organizations shift from frustration to collaborative, people-powered results.

The City of Asheville faced barriers to communication and underrepresentation in civic decision-making. FHG co-developed and facilitated the O.U.R. Asheville Academy, a culturally grounded leadership program that trained underrepresented residents as “Community Connectors.” Every participant completed the program, and graduates were later contracted by the City to lead public engagement—including during Hurricane Helene recovery. The result is a sustainable pipeline of diverse leaders actively shaping local governance.

The International Humanity Foundation struggled with low brand recognition and limited involvement of youth and local, lived-experience leaders in communications and decision-making. FHG led a global rebranding and localization process, co-creating a refreshed brand story rooted in IHF’s mission while developing sub-brands that reflected cultural nuance. Youth and staff were trained in ethical storytelling, and we facilitated alignment across regions with tools for ongoing communications. The result was increased participation, stronger community recognition, and a unified brand voice that built trust and visibility where it matters most.
